Located on the Caribbean coast of northwest Colombia, Cartagena is a seaport that loves both rum and gin.
In 1751 Severo Arango y Ferro came to Cartagena to strengthen Spain's trade relations with the Latin American colonies. His growing style and power earned him the title of Dictador. After tasting the sweet and rich rum, he decided to become an important trade and producer of RUM.
In 1913, more than 180 years after Ferro came to Cartagena, one of his descendants, Don Juilo Arangoy Parra, studied deeply the legendary life of his ancestor and the production of Rum wine. Under the name of Dictador, his ancestor is committed to becoming the best Rum winery in the Caribbean region. Having experienced several generations, the investors helped Dictador expand its operations in 2009, launching a variety of rich rum wines to be marketed around the world.
Dario Parra, former managing director of Dictador, decided to create his own gin recipe after falling in love with it while traveling to the UK. Like Rum under its brand, it is fermented with sugar cane and moulasses to 96% after four times of distillation process. Limon Mandarino (Tangerine-lemon), a unique cultivar of Columbia, is used as the material to give a balance between citrus sweetness and citric acid. Add berries, herbs, spices, and citrus peels to blend.
After blending, the wine is aged for 35 weeks in the oak barrel of rum, with light amber color, and the bottling concentration is 43%. Barrel aging slightly reduces the citrus freshness but retains the peppermint and pepper flavors and adds the vanilla sweetness of the barrel.

Dictador的前任公司總經理Dario Parra因為經常旅行英國而愛上琴酒,之後便決定要創造個人配方琴酒。與旗下Rum酒一樣是以甘蔗糖蜜發酵經過四次蒸餾製程至96%,以哥倫比亞獨特品種檸檬Limon Mandarino(Tangerine-Lemon)為材料賦予柑橘的甘甜和檸檬酸度之間平衡;添加莓果、草本植物、香料、柑橘皮個別浸泡蒸餾再進行調和。
調和後於自家rum酒橡木桶內熟成35週,帶有淡淡琥珀色,裝瓶濃度為43%。桶陳後略為減少柑橘清新調性但保留薄荷與胡椒的口感,多了木桶的香草甜味。
