技術工程師出身的提姆.韋斯(Tim Veys)因為興趣使然,因緣際會下成為位於比利時摩恩(Moen)葡萄酒商-克里斯托夫.迪梅爾(Christophe Demeyer)的侍酒師。提姆某日帶著自己蒸餾的琴酒讓迪梅爾嘗試,開啟迪梅爾另闢琴酒蒸餾事業的想法。迪梅爾替提姆創立「設計烈酒(Spirits by Design)」公司從事琴酒研發。

2013年,適逢比利時「奇異莓(Kiwiberry)」逾五十噸豐收過剩,提姆遂以杜松子、肉桂、甘草、當歸根、麥芽、檸檬,加上奇異莓,蒸餾出帶著果香與少許辛香感的「梅爾M1琴酒(Meyer's Gin M1)」。2014年四月3日發表沒多久,便與比利時魯瑟拉勒(Rooselare)的米其林一星法式餐廳-「布里(Boury,現已成為二星餐廳)」合作以酒入菜。
