技術工程師出身的提姆．韋斯（Tim Veys）因為興趣使然，因緣際會下成為位於比利時摩恩（Moen）葡萄酒商－克里斯托夫．迪梅爾（Christophe Demeyer）的侍酒師。提姆某日帶著自己蒸餾的琴酒讓迪梅爾嘗試，開啟迪梅爾另闢琴酒蒸餾事業的想法。迪梅爾替提姆創立「設計烈酒（Spirits by Design）」公司從事琴酒研發。

2013年，適逢比利時「奇異莓（Kiwiberry）」逾五十噸豐收過剩，提姆遂以杜松子、肉桂、甘草、當歸根、麥芽、檸檬，加上奇異莓，蒸餾出帶著果香與少許辛香感的「梅爾M1琴酒（Meyer's Gin M1）」。2014年四月3日發表沒多久，便與比利時魯瑟拉勒（Rooselare）的米其林一星法式餐廳－「布里（Boury，現已成為二星餐廳）」合作以酒入菜。
