Tonami City, Toyama Prefecture, has a landscape of scattered villages spread over a vast plain. Wakatsuru Shuzo's sake is born in this place where you can feel the changes of the four seasons, where the refreshing breeze shakes the rice ears in the summer and the silver world surrounds you in the winter.
Since our founding in Bunkyu 2 (1862), we have been devoting ourselves to quality-oriented sake brewing, which is loved and loved. The name "Wakazuru" reflects the spirit of sake brewing that has been passed down from generation to generation, and the desire to contribute to the rich and happy lives of many people who love drinking. With the blessings of good quality rice and underground water from the Shogawa River, Mr. Mori and the brewers bring the sake grown in this area to life. We brew unique sake such as "Wakatsuru", "Nokaya", and "Dry Gen".
Shortly after World War II, despite the adversity of rice shortages, he continued his research on distilled liquor and obtained a whiskey manufacturing license in 1952. In 2017, with the support of many people, the Saburomaru Distillery was reborn as the only whiskey distillery that can be visited in Hokuriku, and the big goal is "Toyama's craft whiskey, the world." Wakatsuru Shuzo continues to take on the challenge of becoming a whiskey loved by people.
