Suitcase Spirits was created by our founder, Amanda, while she was traveling. She lived out of her suitcase for several years and had the amazing opportunity to spend extended time in various cities around the world. Spending several months in each location gave her the chance to learn and get to know a place and its people.
One common thread everywhere she went – she shared a drink with locals and learned about their communities and history through their eyes. Discussing cooking in Barcelona with a group of grandmothers over a Vermut. Understanding French pride at a small craft brewery outside Paris. Discovering the wonders of Gin and the rich history of distilling in Johannesburg. Laughing at a street café in Istanbul over Raki with a group of older gentlemen sharing their views on the economy. All of these experiences were inspirational and memorable, and gave Amanda a sense of a city – the people, the food, and the drinks.
Suitcase Spirits’ purpose is to create spirits that capture the flavors and feelings of these great cities around the world. They are love letters to the cities that inspired them.
